Slower Faster

Honest note about quality: this voice is a free Piper voice that runs on your own device — clear and natural for everyday listening, reading aloud and drafts. It is not as expressive as the paid studio / cloud AI voices you may have heard, and right now it is English only — the free kit has no Urdu voice yet.

How it works

Type, listen, save — the voice lives in your browser.

1
Load the voice onceOne tap downloads the free Piper voice (about 96 MB) — cached afterwards.
2
Type & speakPaste any English text, pick a speed, and press Speak.
3
Download WAVSave the spoken audio as a WAV file for videos, lessons or messages.
Your text never leaves your device

The speech is generated entirely in this browser tab by the Piper voice model. The text you type is never sent to a server — only the voice model files are downloaded, once, from a public model library (Hugging Face).

Questions

Is this really free?

Yes. The Piper voice is a free, open voice model and it runs on your own device, so there are no credits, no sign-up and no per-word charges.

Why is there a big download first?

Good voices are large files. The one-time download (about 96 MB) is the voice itself; after that your browser keeps it cached, so the tool opens quickly and can even work offline.

Which voice is it?

A US English Piper voice pack trained on the LibriTTS audiobook library (medium quality). It includes many different speakers — pick one in the Voice menu and keep the one you like. Urdu is not available in this free kit yet.

Can I use the audio in my videos?

The Piper voice models are released for general use, and the WAV is generated on your device. For commercial projects, check the Piper voice licence terms to be sure.

Why does long text take a moment?

The voice reads sentence by sentence on your device. A paragraph is quick; a whole chapter takes longer and is best split into parts.
